Legal status and visa requirements for those who were forced to leave Ukraine

General information and legal support within Gibraltar

Ukrainians forced to flee to Gibraltar are covered by the Immigration, Asylum, and Refugee Act to allow Ukrainian nationals, holders of valid multiple-entry Schengen visas, to enter and remain in Gibraltar for a limited period without the need for a valid entry permit.

Ukrainian nationals do not require a valid visa to enter Gibraltar. However, Ukrainian nationals present at the Gibraltar border will be subject to standard security checks. Those who have a valid Schengen multiple entry Visa or Schengen residence will not require advanced security checks.

It is worth it to note that Gibraltar, as part of the United Kingdom, is not bound to the EU directive (2001/55/EC). ec.europa.eu

Access to healthcare services

Legal prerequisites for healthcare services and fees

The information on the procedures to get healthcare in Gibraltar for Ukrainians is quite limited and can be checked via the website: gha.gi.

However, the following statement was received by the Gibraltarian Health Authorities: What we can confirm though is that we offer free of charge health screening for all arriving Ukrainian refugees and any ongoing medical care that may be required that is identified as a result of this.

No further legal prerequisites are specified.

There is a registration process, with a form, to be used for the family doctor’s services.

Visiting family doctors (also called General Practitioners (GP))

If the person has health problems, needs screening, testing or chronic/long-term treatment is required, your first port of call is your family doctor. He/she not only looks at your illness but also at your work situation and your family environment. They will be the contact person for preventive care. In addition, your family doctor steers you through the health care system if health problems arise that cannot (or can no longer) be treated in the family doctor’s office, or if you need treatment other than medical (e.g. nursing, physiotherapy, etc.).
